Forest Roof Repairs - Dry Verge & Dry Ridge Systems

About Dry Roofing

Homeowners are increasingly choosing to update their roof verges and ridge tile fixings to the dry roofing products. Improvements in products change and most new builds have the dry verge systems and dry ridge systems installed. Older properties can also benefit from an upgrade to the new dry roofing systems.

The benefits of having dry roofing systems installed greatly outweigh the mortar based fixings. They are more practical, functional, durable and require no maintenance, unlike the mortar verges and ridge tile mortar fixings.

We do carry out the older type of verge repairs and re-bed the ridge tiles, however this maintenance is needed fairly regular, whereas the dry roofing systems require no maintenance and so are more cost effective.

Dry Roofing Systems

Dry roofing allows for the natural movement of the building and the adverse weather conditions that we endure. However, the weather takes its toll on the mortar based structures. Over time, the weather causes the mortar to become dry, brittle, crack and crumble. Birds also take advantage of this and will make nests in the spaces, which in turn also allows the ingress of rain water and other things to enter the roofline/loft space causing damage.

Dry verge is a more durable and hassle free alternative. Dry verge caps are made of tough plastic, these fit over the edge of your tiles, and offer long lasting protection to your roof.

Dry Ridge has been designed to give the appearance of a traditional bedded ridge, but with all the benefits that a modern dry ridge system provides, such as secure mechanical fixing and appropriate ventilation.

The Dry Ridge system incorporates ventilation strips to support the ridges and provides high level ventilation.

Dry ridge systems have many advantages over the mortar based fixings. Mortar cracks and crumbles over time, with the changeable weather and natural movement of the building but with dry ridge there is no more re-bedding of the ridge tiles.

Dry ridge systems are much more durable, weatherproof and do away with costly repairs.
